High Lake Levels

The heavy snow that we had earlier this month has almost melted and we had heavy rain yesterday.  Thus the lake level is very high.  At the TLR inlet the measurement is 594.84, which is more than 4" higher than last year and the highest reading this year. Please be aware.

Light Up the Lake - Saturday August 31 at 9:00 PM

We will Light Up the Lake on Saturday night at 9:00 PM.  Flares are available at $5 each.  Email ltlpoa88@gmail.com your requests for flares.

Reminder: Elvis Performs Tuesday at 7 PM

Elvis returns to Carole Underwood's lakeside deck on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.  Come to the west end of the lake by boat, paddle board, canoe, pontoon or whatever and enjoy the performance. 

Bike helmets found

Sutherlands report they found two bike helmets by Rd's Roadhouse.  One child and one adult.

Fireworks on the Lake

There will be a Wysocki family fireworks display on Friday night, August 2 at 10:00 PM.  Enjoy!

Multicolored tube found

Karen Viskochil, 1292 E Traverse Lk Road, has found a multicolored tube.  If yours, stop by and pick it up.

Elvis Returns

Carole Underwood will host Jake Slater, the Elvis Tribute Singer, again this year on her deck facing the west end of the lake.  The performance will be Tuesday August 6 at 7:00 PM.  Come by boat, pontoon, canoe, SUP, or whatever to join in the fun.

We lost a piece of foam approximately 4’ x 4’, “whiteish” that we affectionately call “ the cheese” last week off our dock. Kids and adults like to play and float on it.

Boat Found

A boat has been found at the Kraemer's. The boat is a 14 ft. aluminum, Sea Nymph fishing boat. 3 seats. Last registered in 2016.  Pick it up at 1068 E. TLR.

Lost Cat

A cat has been seen around the north shore of LTL.  Anyone know who it belongs to?  It is grey and white and seems domesticated.  Contact Jerry Leanderson.  231 228-5903

Wondering what that "brown stuff" on the lake bottom is?

Spring is still trying to make it to the lake.  The ice is mostly gone and the lake level is normal for this time of year.

You may have seen "brown stuff" on the lake bottom in previous years.  Jeff Shutz did some research and has written an interesting article about what it is.  It is posted on the website under the water quality tab titled "Golden Brown Benthic Algae".  Thank you Jeff for the information.

Notice while you are there, the Good Harbor Bay Watershed plan is now "housed" on our website.  It previously was kept on the Leelanau Conservancy website.

Firewood Stolen

Matt Sutherland has reported that firewood was stolen from his house (519 W TLR).  Has anyone else had firewood disappear?  If so, reply to the blog.

Save the Date - February 16

Winter is here.  The lake is frozen.  Skiers and snowmobiles are active.  It's time to plan our annual Winterfest dinner.
